Catholic Church Bans 'Hindu' Yoga Classes

A church in Southampton cancels yoga classes on the grounds that it is a "not compatible" with the Catholic faith.

 

A row has broken out because a priest has banned yoga from a church hall on the grounds that "yoga is a Hindu spiritual exercise".

Instructor Cori Withell said the classes she booked for yoga and Pilates at St Edmund's Church building in Southampton were cancelled with 10 days' notice.

The news has jumped in some Lebanese ultra left blogs. The perpetrators of the massacre at the American Embassy in Libya savagely tortured the American Ambassador, Chris Stevens, violated sexually, before killing him. Julian Assange row: Ecuador backed by South America

Ecuador's decision to grant Wikileaks founder Julian Assange asylum has been backed by foreign ministers from countries across South America.

A document agreed at the Union of South American Nations meeting in Ecuador said it supported the country "in the face of the threat" to its London embassy, where he has taken refuge.

The UK has said it could potentially lift the embassy's diplomatic status.

Statement on UK threat to storm Ecuadorian embassy and arrest Julian Assange

In a communication this morning to the government of Ecuador, the UK threatened to forcefully enter the Ecuadorian embassy in London and arrest Julian Assange.

The UK claims the power to do so under the Diplomatic and Consular Premises Act 1987.

Ecuador has accused the UK of making a "threat" to enter its embassy in London to arrest Wikileaks' Julian Assange.

Mr Assange took refuge at the embassy in June to avoid extradition to Sweden, where he faces questioning over assault and rape claims, which he denies.

The Foreign Office said it could revoke the embassy's diplomatic status.

In a statement issued as Mr Patino spoke, it said the UK had a "legal obligation" to extradite Mr Assange.
